GW Korea and Japan Servers to be closed?
Is this true?
I found an article in Mandarin on Sina, reporting that guild wars severs in Japan and Korea are to be no more and all players will be move to the american server after June 10. Is this true? can someone confirm?
Woe is me, my favourite Korean Server will be no more, theres where I get the best ping....
NCSoft online game "Guild Wars", Japan and South Korea will be outaged on June 10 from: sina.com.cn 2009年05月07日10:49[/url]

oooook well as I can't read Japanese and the second link has a loading error there is no way to verify that report or not....
but I hope they don't shut them down as I also get the best ping, and usually play somewhere in the Asian districts.

Well lets hope not, it's bad enough you have put up with the random German trying to sell stuff in Kam while speaking German...add displaced Japanese players to the mix?
Madness total and utter madness

But even w/ a German dis, they will still be selling stuff in US dis and speaking German. Why? 'cause there is no one to sell to in the German district.
If shut down servers in the "outskirts" of GW can do us(the people who actually play) some good, go for it, these servers don't have much of an
Raison d'etre anyways.

Are we gonna be getting increased lag on the american servers ? Especially in pvp, lag has been a bit of a problem lately and more players on fewer servers ?

Do you even visit German districts?
In my experience, they are among the most populated on the EU servers.
The reason why these guys are selling in US districts, is because EVERYONE is selling there. The US-1 district is the equivalent of an Auction house.

Spoke to a Korean friend today, he said (if I understood him correctly, my Korean sucks atm) that Korean servers+website will close at the 13th of May and that they will have to use the US servers. Koreans will get all chapters+BMP for free as compensation and won't have to pay the monthly fee of 9.900 won anymore (about $8)

And this is just the first part of GW closing down preparing for GW2 to take over. See, I been telling you all this since Auto Duel and Tabula Rasa it's coming the end of GW.

Koreans had to pay $8 a month to play GW? Man, that sucks... Kinda cool they're getting the chapters I guess (with the exception of those that already had them)? It's going to suck hard for their pings though.
Oh heyyy, does that mean if you buy a Korean account you could get all the chapters for free if you do it before May 13? lol

Sigh...there's always a prophet of doom.
In the larger scope of things, everything will end some day. So yeah GW1 will end too, eventually....so you're point is not impressive.
If you want to prove you have a point, mention a specific date when you say GW1 will die out and we'll see. If not, get over yourself please.

slowly moving to a one world district oh noes. But if gw converges on say international only server it with multiple districts it will make the game seem more active.

Actually, he did say that.. paying one month fee and get the chapters for free. Dunno if it actually works like that.
Edit: Apparently it's only for people who started paying the monthly fees or bought a license* before the 6th (they put the notice on their website on the 7th).
Anyway, now he was talking about them keeping their server and districts but that only the Korean website+support would close down and the account management would be transferred to America on June 13th.
*They got the choice of paying a monthly fee of around $8 to play every chapter (so 1x$8 a month will allow them to play Proph, Factions, Nightfall, EotN and BMP), or buy a license for 44.000 won per chapter (around $35) to play without fees.

Why? The first thing they should do is removing the Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Polish European districts etc. Most (young) Europeans speak english. Though Guild Wars-speak doesnt even require any english knowledge either way.
